COI  recognizes  that  adolescence (12 – 19 years) is a  crucial  period in the development  of  an  individual.  Hierarchies,  gender relations, social  norms, values and religious beliefs influence this age group.  Access to education and low socio-economic  standing  significantly  impact  individuals  and  results  in exploitation of child labor and abuse. Providing adolescent girls education and balanced diets helps insure that children born to them in the future are healthy and not underweight.  COI offers skill training in fashion design, cosmotology, and literacy classes.
